Regulatory compliance and environmental protection

West Virginia’s oil water separator rules match EPA standards. These rules are strict about how much oil can be in discharged water. Having the right oil water separators installed is essential. It stops pollution and protects local water sources.

Benefits of below ground installations

Below ground oil water separators have many benefits. They don’t take up much space, which is great for places with little outdoor area. These systems are safe from bad weather. Plus, they’re quiet and don’t spoil the look of the area, making them perfect for many industrial uses in West Virginia.

Understanding the Technology Behind Oil Water Separators

Oil water separators are key in industrial water treatment. They use advanced tech to remove oil from water. This ensures clean discharge and meets regulations. Let’s dive into how these separators work and the new tech that makes them effective.

How Oil Water Separators Work

Oil water separators use gravity and coalescence to separate oil from water. Contaminated water goes through the system, and oil droplets rise to the top. Clean water then exits below. The design aims to maximize separation efficiency.

Enhanced Coalescing Technology

Modern separators have enhanced coalescing tech. This tech uses special media to pull tiny oil droplets together. They form bigger droplets that separate more easily. This leads to better separation, shown in the prices of oil water separators.

Achieving 5 PPM Separation Efficiency

Advanced separators can hit a 5 PPM separation efficiency. This beats North America’s 10 PPM limit. Some systems even get down to 0.1 PPM for very small oil amounts. Continuous checks keep performance up, keeping discharge levels in check.

West Virginia Below Ground Oil Water Separators: Applications and Industries

West Virginia Below Ground Oil Water Separators are key in many industries. They help companies follow environmental laws and keep their operations clean. These systems are used in mining, oilfield services, and renting out equipment.

In mining, these separators clean big equipment underground. They wash mining trucks and steel vehicles with recycled water. This saves water and cuts down on harm to the environment.

The Marcellus and Utica Shale Energy sector depends a lot on oil water separators. Companies in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky use them to handle non-hazardous waste. These systems are crucial for keeping the oilfield services clean and efficient.

Equipment rental companies also gain from these separators. They keep rental gear clean and in good shape. By removing oil and other dirt from wastewater, rental companies can make their equipment last longer and meet environmental rules.

West Virginia Below Ground Oil Water Separators offer solutions for many industries. From mining to energy production, these systems are key to keeping operations clean and protecting the environment.

Design and Installation Considerations for Underground Separator Tanks

Proper design and installation of underground oil water separator tanks are crucial. They must be planned carefully to fit specific needs and follow regulations.

Sizing and Capacity Requirements

Choosing the right size for your oil water separator is key. The tank’s size depends on the flow rate and how much oil it will handle. Freytech Inc. offers expert advice to help businesses find the perfect size for their tanks.

Material Selection for Durability

The material used for oil water separator tanks is very important. Stainless steel is a top choice because it’s strong and doesn’t rust easily. This means the tank can last for many years in tough underground conditions.

Installation Process and Best Practices

The process of installing oil water separator tanks needs a lot of planning. Things to think about include preparing the site, digging, and sealing it well. It’s best to look at the space carefully and adjust the installation to fit each site perfectly. For instance, Freytech installed an indoor wash pad for an equipment rental company without changing the property’s layout.

These separators are crucial in storm water systems. They process runoff to meet the US EPA’s Clean Water Act standards. With effective oily water treatment, facilities protect the environment and dodge big fines.

ECOSORP

FOR EMULSIFIED AND DISSOLVED OIL: (ECOSORP BELOW 1 PPM)

The EcoSorp oil water separator is for use to obtain below 1 part per million (PPM) separation efficiencies. It is for use with free or PHYSICALLY EMULSIFIED AND DISSOLVED OIL by adsorption from water. This represents exceptionally clean separation. The EcoSorp requires filter / coalescing media cartridge replacement since it works through adsorption and the media becomes saturated over time (typically once a year). Recommended for use downstream of a Freytech Inc. above or below ground 5 PPM oil water separator to prolong its useful life. The media can absorb up to 22 lbs (10 kg) of oil. Units available with flow rates up to 100 gallons per minute (GPM) / 380 liters per minute (L/M). No electrical power requirements.

Typical Fields of Application

  • For emulsified and dissolved oil.

HIGH FLOW RATE OIL WATER SEPARATOR

Each XL Separator Panel can effectively treat oily water flow rates ranging from 320 GPM (20 l/s) to 640 GPM (40 l/s). Achieves 5 Part per Million (PPM) separation of free non-emulsified oil. By far, the most affordable method for large industrial oil-water separation since panels can be installed side by side like windowpanes in a submerged cross-wall in locally procured concrete or steel tanks. This unique solution represents a huge advantage over shipping conventional bulky separators since there is no limit to the flow rate that can be treated and the panels are washable and reusable. Maintenance is conducted from above ground making it safer, cleaner, quicker and of course, more affordable. Each panel requires 1 yard / 1 meter of submerged wall space. Optional polishing system available to also separate trace emulsified oil down to 0.1 PPM.

With the optional ADD Skimmer, the oil being separated by the XL Panels is mechanically and automatically collected 24/7 and drained by gravity to a separate receptacle. The skimmed oil will contain only 0.3% of water thus providing the operator with an outstanding 99.7 % concentration of pure used oil. This represents a significant advantage over other skimmers in that the operator no longer has to pay for the separated oil and the excess water to be removed from the separator by septic truck and shipped/ treated in a wastewater treatment plant. The operator can even sell or donate the pure separated oil since it is now possible to skim it free of water from the separator on site.
