Understanding Below Ground Oil Water Separators in Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania, managing industrial wastewater is key. Below Ground Oil Water Separators are vital for this. They keep our water clean and help industries follow environmental laws.

Definition and Purpose of Oil Water Separators

These devices remove oil and grease from wastewater. They let oil float to the top while water goes down. This is crucial for treating industrial wastewater, keeping harmful stuff out of our water.

Importance in Industrial and Commercial Settings

Oil/Water Separator Systems are a must in many sectors. They’re found in factories, car washes, and airports. These systems stop oil from polluting our water, protecting the environment and public health. They’re essential for keeping Pennsylvania’s water clean.

Performance Standards and Efficiency of Oil/Water Separator Systems

Oil/Water Separator Systems are key to keeping Pennsylvania’s environment safe. They must work well to treat Petrochemical Wastewater. These systems are judged on how well they remove oil from water, following strict rules.

Separation Efficiency and Discharge Limits

In Pennsylvania, oil/water separators need to work very well to follow the law. They must keep the water clean, with no more than 10 parts per million (PPM) of oil. Some systems even do better, making the water much cleaner and protecting the environment more.

Enhanced Coalescing Technology

Freytech Inc. has made a new coalescing technology for their Oil/Water Separator Systems. This new tech makes sure the systems remove oil very efficiently, down to 5 PPM. If there’s a tiny bit of oil mixed in, their systems can get it down to 0.1 PPM.

Handling Various Types of Hydrocarbons

Good oil/water separators can handle many kinds of hydrocarbons. They work with motor oil, diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel. This is important for industries that need to treat different kinds of petrochemical waste while following the law in Pennsylvania.

Applications and Industries Served by Underground Oil/Water Separators

Underground oil/water separators are crucial in many industries across Pennsylvania. They help companies follow strict environmental rules and protect our water resources.

Petrochemical and Industrial Wastewater Treatment

In the petrochemical industry, these separators are a must for treating industrial wastewater. They take out oil and grease, making sure companies follow EPA rules. Many factories use them to clean their water before letting it go.

Stormwater Management Pennsylvania

ECOSORP

FOR EMULSIFIED AND DISSOLVED OIL: (ECOSORP BELOW 1 PPM)

The EcoSorp oil water separator is for use to obtain below 1 part per million (PPM) separation efficiencies. It is for use with free or PHYSICALLY EMULSIFIED AND DISSOLVED OIL by adsorption from water. This represents exceptionally clean separation. The EcoSorp requires filter / coalescing media cartridge replacement since it works through adsorption and the media becomes saturated over time (typically once a year). Recommended for use downstream of a Freytech Inc. above or below ground 5 PPM oil water separator to prolong its useful life. The media can absorb up to 22 lbs (10 kg) of oil. Units available with flow rates up to 100 gallons per minute (GPM) / 380 liters per minute (L/M). No electrical power requirements.

Typical Fields of Application

  • For emulsified and dissolved oil.

HIGH FLOW RATE OIL WATER SEPARATOR

Each XL Separator Panel can effectively treat oily water flow rates ranging from 320 GPM (20 l/s) to 640 GPM (40 l/s). Achieves 5 Part per Million (PPM) separation of free non-emulsified oil. By far, the most affordable method for large industrial oil-water separation since panels can be installed side by side like windowpanes in a submerged cross-wall in locally procured concrete or steel tanks. This unique solution represents a huge advantage over shipping conventional bulky separators since there is no limit to the flow rate that can be treated and the panels are washable and reusable. Maintenance is conducted from above ground making it safer, cleaner, quicker and of course, more affordable. Each panel requires 1 yard / 1 meter of submerged wall space. Optional polishing system available to also separate trace emulsified oil down to 0.1 PPM.

With the optional ADD Skimmer, the oil being separated by the XL Panels is mechanically and automatically collected 24/7 and drained by gravity to a separate receptacle. The skimmed oil will contain only 0.3% of water thus providing the operator with an outstanding 99.7 % concentration of pure used oil. This represents a significant advantage over other skimmers in that the operator no longer has to pay for the separated oil and the excess water to be removed from the separator by septic truck and shipped/ treated in a wastewater treatment plant. The operator can even sell or donate the pure separated oil since it is now possible to skim it free of water from the separator on site.
